Highlands golf club and Resort – Chiang Mai ,Sankampheng

Near Sankampheng’s Hot Springs and only 30 minutes east of Chiang Mai is the finest new golf course in Northern Thailand - Chiang Mai Highlands. The brainchild of Vichai Samakoses and designed by Lee Schmidt, this par-72, 7,000 yard from late 2005, 18-hole masterpiece is built on a ‘power spot’ – the hermitage of Kuba Sivichai (the revered monk who founded the famous temple on Doi Suthep). This very special site is breathtaking in every direction and literally tingles with an energetic aliveness. Its profound tranquility, high elevation, cool climate, fresh air, pure water, and fertile soil, form the perfect place to sculpt a living golf treasure. From the inviting downhill 1st hole, the golf course effortlessly flows along, gaining strength, beauty, and character with each passing hole until its thrilling, dramatic finish on the unforgettable 18th. If you only have one day to golf in the north, play Chiang Mai Highlands. This world-class resort is not to be missed!

Chiang Mai Lamphun Golf Club

Hole 14

logoThis championship course, designed by Dr. Sukhum Sukapanpotharam, is situated in the heart of the beautiful valley 30 minutes east from Chiang Mai. In the foothills of Northern Thailand, amid an enchanting forest of golden teak trees, this 18 hole, par 72, 7,022 yard masterpiece meanders through breathtaking landscaping, mature forest, radiant flowering flora and across refreshing streams, ponds and lakes. It is the best example of the love between man and nature. The architecture of the golf course, in addition to its natural attributes, offers players wonderful views and numerous technical combinations, This golf course, a nature sanctuary, was officeal venue for the 18th Southeast Asian Games in 1995. It also Hosted Thailand National Games 2002 and Kosaido Thailand Ladies Open 2003.

Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club

logoDesigned by 5 times British Open winner Peter Thomson and Michael Wolveridge, this 6900 yard, par 72, park-land style course is located 30 minutes from Chiang Mai, in the foothills of Northern Thailand. The 2000 rai site, a former fruit orchard, provides breathtaking panoramic vistas of mountains in the distance. The high altitude provides a cooler, less humid climate, sweet refreshing air, and gentle breezes. It's filled with the songs of birds, an abundance of wildlife, and thousands of flowering trees erupting in different fragrances and colors every month of the year. The design uses elements from a British links style course, including bumpy gently rolling fairways, pot bunkers and closely mowed areas around the greens.

Lanna Golf Club - Chiang Mai

logoLocated only 10 minutes from downtown Chiang Mai, this is one of Thailand's finest old style golf courses. This lovely 27 hole course, adjacent to the race track, offers three distinctly unique design styles, with panoramic views of Chiang Mai's famed Doi Suthep temple on the mountain top to the west. The golf course winds through impressive boulevards of huge mature trees, skirts many large lakes, ponds, and criss-crosses numerous bubbling streams and canals. It is renowned for it's cadre of exceptionally skilled and lovely caddies, complete club house, gold range, sports club, restaurant and low prices. Lanna, especially in the afternoon, is Thai-style golf at it's best.

Green Valley Golf Club - Chiang Mai

logo Situated in the lowlands, only 20 minutes from downtown Chiang Mai, this Dennis Griffiths & Associates designed championship course offers an unusually tough challenge. The heat and humidity, along with the 7,200 yards of wide open fairways, tough water hazards on every hole, plenty of bunkers, and few trees, make for a difficult and thirsty round of golf. Ideally played in the early morning or late afternoon, due to lack of trees, this tournament calibre course has Chiang Mai's most superbly conditioned and maintained fairways and greens. The clubhouse is a model of excellence.

Mae Jo Golf Club

Sculpted from fertile orchards in the foothills 20 minutes north of Chiang Mai is one of Asia’s finest courses. Beautifully designed 6,700 yard, par-72 jewel from 2004 by Seni Thirawat is risk-reward, as its lush, narrow fairways slither through the sweetly scented mango, citrus and lychee ‘Garden of Eden’ like the golden pythons golfer’s sometimes see. Throughout the year the air is sweetly scented with fragrant blossoms, and the trees laden with fruit. Created Banthun Tantivit, the clubhouse, restaurant, lodge, golf course and extensive practice facilities are impeccably first-class. Although only opened in 2004, it’s superbly conditioned fairways and greens play more like a mature course than a newly constructed one. The breathtaking vistas from the 15th tee is but another great reason to visit Mae-Jo.

Gassan Khuntan Golf Club and Resort
Only one hour south of Chiang Mai is Gassan’s new Khuntan Resort. Khuntan means “Devil Mountain’ and this 18-hole, 7,100 yard, par-72 creation from 2004 is devilishly difficult. Tucked in the ‘dragon-like’ folds of Lampang’s foothills on a riverbank, the distinctive design of the course, clubhouse and resort is pure “eye candy”. Its target golf/risk-reward style, the lack of a practice range, no golf course guidebook, and clever optical illusions make hitting the right shot, with the right club, to the right spot a true test. When you stand on the tee of the par-3, - 5th hole and face a mid-iron shot to a tiny island green, in the middle of a huge lake, into the teeth of swirling winds, you will know why this course is aptly named. Although club/shot selection are demanding, the relentless challenge only adds to the experience. To gain par takes focus, making the occasional birdie that much more special. For an unforgettable day of golf in a truly spectacular setting, head south.

Gassan Lake City – Lamphun
Experience the charm of Northern Thailand at Chiang Mai’s newest championship golf course. Only 15 minutes south of Chiang Mai is Gassan’s newest masterpiece, the extraordinary Lake City. This 18-hole, 6,400 yard, par-72 beauty from 2005, designed by Gassan’s owner, noted Thai architect Pravit Reang-Po, mirror’s the unique clubhouse and the sculpted bunkers of Gassan’s Khuntan Resort. Also a target golf and risk-reward layout, Lake City has expansive water hazards on every hole. Many of the par-4’s can be driven yet danger lurks. The short approach shots to the greens demand precision and proper placement so Lake City rewards thoughtful play over pure power.

Gassan Marina Golf Club
At Gassan Marina Golf Club designed by Thai architect Pravit Reang-Po and opened December 2006 we bring you a new dimension to golf in Thailand. At 7,761 yards the longest course in the kingdom, its unique distinction comes from all 18 holes being designed around the contour of a large lake in Chiang Mai. Add in plenty of waterside bunkers, a backdrop of mountains, lush greenery, and you have a stunning vista to complement the golfing challenge. The course does not have any par 5 holes instead 4 par 6 holes that measurer 666 yards from the back tee.

Golfers will also enjoy winding down in their luxury club house, constructed to mix European architecture with Dubai Arabian style. Overlooking the grand lake and surrounding mountains, and at nearly 10,000 square meter in size, it includes Thai and International restaurants, locker rooms, seminar room, pro shop, and large banquet halls which hold up to 500 people. They also have a house and land project with qualities properties to choose from. Gassan Marina Golf Club is about 20 minutes drive from Chiang Mai International Airport and the city centre.
